Hello everyone.. I know it’s been 3 days post Valentine’s day but hey, we’re still on the “Love Month” so I still have a pretty good excuse for this late post. 🙂
About 2 weeks ago, my good friend and Make-up Artist Sydney Streegan asked me to model for her for a Valentine’s day makeup tips feature in the Urban Life section of a local newspaper, the Mindanao Gold Star daily. I joyfully nodded a yes and off we went with the shoot last February 4. Her Valentine’s day make-up tips feature was out on the February 9 issue of the newspaper, just days before Valentine’s day; the timing was perfect especially for those who were struggling on what look to achieve during Valentine’s day.
I am sharing some of the photos that didn’t make it to the feature since I want to preserve the beauty of the make-up and the beauty of the photographs as well. Hope you’ll enjoy, you can recreate these two looks (laid-back and formal) too for your special events. 🙂

1. LAID-BACK VALENTINE’S DAY LOOK
On Ludelle is a winged cat-eye that exudes sexiness without it being too much. To do it, just line your upper lid with a liquid or gel liner and extend in out like a wing. Excluding the eye shadow in this look makes the whole ensemble flexible on either daytime dates or night outs. “I kept the brow simple – just lined and filled it with a dark brown brow kit and brushed it on to even it out.” The look is perfect with nude lip, “first I put on a thin layer of lip balm just to moisturize then lips before applying the lipstick in either Nude/Toasted Taupe. Then just on the apple of the cheek is a light brush of a rosy blush. False lashes are also used in this look to add drama to the eyes,” Syndey said. But if you happen to be out of lashes, your trusty mascara can still do the trick. “To have the perfect feel on a day date, skip the foundation and just do it with a clean layer of BB Cream (Beauty and Blemish) or maybe CC Cream (Correct and Conceal) and pair it with a matte lip and a light blush,” she added. It’s a perfect casual, laid-back look. -Written by Choco Portado
2. FORMAL VALENTINE’S DAY LOOK
For a formal date, “I did a much dramatic and sexy look for Ludelle. A red lip paired with a dark eyeshadow, “I just did one shade of color and blended it evenly on her eyelids with a blending brush.” Then, “I used less blush and more bronzer, applying it just below the apple of the cheek just to lighten up the make,” Sydney explained. “For pouty lips, I lined the lip with the same shade of color and just filled it in with the lipstick. This creates the pouty lip shape perfect for people with small lips.” She explained. But if red isn’t your color, “any color will do really. Just as long as you like it and it works with the whole look. For example, instead of red, you can pair the dark eyeshadow with a nude lip,” she adds. Sydney lined and filled the brow with a dark brown brow kit and brushed it evenly before applying a brow gel to set everything. “You can also got with earth tones for the eyeshadow. It goes great with any eye shape and fits any date your in.” just remember to retouch everything after you it. You should always look your best before, during and after. – Written by Choco Portado
